A Dangerous Journey

Me and my friend, who prefer to be named, cronk, one day set about to go to the deep deep wilderness. We know what would be unleashed in the wilderness so we packed light. Only wearing our armor and keeping our bags as empty as possible, we set out our journey without thinking where we would end up...

0:01
our journey began as we crossed the ditch that separates the revenant-free land and the wilderness. Revenants are blood-thirsty ghosts that were created when they died in the wilderness. They may look weak, but their ghost powers make up for their looks. As we find ourselves in the middle of alot of giant rats, we turn west, in hopes of finding the infamous black knights fortress.

1:23
As we walked deeper and deeper in the wilderness, we find a strange creature. It seemed blurry as we were far away. Drawing nearer and nearer, a grizzly bear's shape started to appear. We laughed at the single hungry bear, but as we walked closer to it, we realized the bear was'nt alone. We avoided the potentially dreadful battle and walked north-west.

1:53
We passed the bears, and, to our amazement, found arrows lying on the floor. I walked closer and found out that the arrows were fresh. We knew life existed even in this accursed grounds. Steadfast, we hurriedly ran at the side of a lake.

2:05
As we ran along the lake, we noticed a big and gloomy castle, right beside it. It was dimly lit, the walls were badly maintained, the aura of the castle gave off this weird effect. I wanted to inspect it closer, but cronk insisted we carry on with our journey. We debated and finally, I won. After I found the way in, with shields and swords ready, we slowly entered the dark castle.

3:01
The bridge leading to the entrance gave a 'welcoming' sight. Cages with dead corpses in them, skeletons lying around, spikes at the bottom of the bridge, we knew this wasnt a place we should be in. Still, curiosity drove me forward. Cronk quickly took sight of a knight, seemingly patrolling the hallways. We crept up to the knight and knocked the knight's lights out. After hiding the body, we rummaged through his armor and found nothing but gold pieces. Cronk kept the gold pieces, seeing as it is fair since he did not want to enter this castle in the first place. We hastily walked through hallways, unlocking doors and finding nothing but patrolling or sleeping knights. Since every knight in the castle wore black armor, we decided to call them black knights.

4:22
Opening the last door in the castle, we finally found something of value. A ruby ring. I carefully checked for traps and, when I was sure, I immediately took it. We escaped the dark castle unseen. When we were a good distance away from the castle, I inspected the ring and found it priceless. Cronk envied me.

4:57
Going north from the castle, we found lave flow. Making sure our steps wouldn't throw us into the fiery depths, we hadn't notice some bandits standing guard to a narrow bridge across us. Their archers started firing arrows at us and we ran as fast as a cheetah towards the bridge, in order to kill our attackers. Not the smartest move I would say. Killing 10 of them, we gained their honor and were allowed to explore the bandit camp. I found a kitchen with alot of food and went in it to cook up something.

5:43
Eating our fill, we exited the kitchen. I suddenly caught a glimpse of something at the corner of my eye, it hid somewhere behind the ruins of a building. I told cronk to make sure he keeps his guard up, we explored the encampment thoroughly. When I almost reached a house that was called 'treasury' a bolt of lightning hit me at the back and pushed me into the watery lake beside me. Cronk quickly came to my aid and we ran and settled in a small house.

6:02
Not knowing who my attacker was, I peeked at a hole in the wall I was resting and saw a revenant. A revenant vampire to be exact. Some bandits walked near the revenant, but they were unharmed. I made a conclusion that they must be working with the revenant. I almost gave up hope.

7:06
An hour had passed and the revenant was finally gone. As I peeked again through the hole, the bandits seem to be getting ready for a raid. The nearest city to this camp was the strongest city i've known, Falador. Black knights and bandits, along with a few skeletal warriors were working together lifting up weapons and fixing their defence wagon. A door was located at the opposite of us and we decided to bust through the door and run for cover. Cronk suggested we wait until my injury has finally settled. I nodded in agreement.

9:27
The wound, finally healed, was wrapped with some cloth found in the small house we were in and we readied ourselves for what ever should come between us and freedom. We opened the door opposite to us and peeked a little bit. The area was clear. Just as we were half way to another small house, the revenant vampire, possibly the one attacking us a few moments ago, appeared in front of our eyes. It uttered a strange language and a flash hit us. I couldn't move my legs and cronk was in the same condition. We knew we would've lost.

10:00
We heard about our execution and was immediately blindfolded by 2 guards. I knew they would be taking us somewhere they did'nt want us to know. I went along with them until they told me to stop and lift my foot. I lifted my foot and felt something being tied around it. In a split second, I was hoisted up into the air and was dangling. They opened the blindfold and I saw myself upside-down, my leg tied to a tree. Cronk was nowhere to be seen.

10:45
Blood was racing to my head. I felt dizzy and light-headed. I was slowly losing my conciousness until a flash of light blinded me. I looked at where the direction was and saw cronk, with a piece of mirror reflecting the suns rays at my face. He signalled a sign we saw everyday at a barrack, the sign of an ambush. I knew that I had to distract the guards, so I asked one of them a question, hoping the other would come and help solve the problem. After I got the 2 guards confused, cronk leapt onto their backs and stabbed them as if they were pillows. He untied me and set me down. I took a few seconds to make sure I was still alive. I thanked cronk and asked him if he knew where we were. He said we were north of falador and the bandit caravan was making its way there.

11:01
Me and cronk reached the city of Falador first before the caravan did. We ran quickly towards the white knight's castle and reported the whole incident to the head of the white knights. Fortunately he believed the story and ordered the whole city to be on their knees. We asked if we could help them but the leader rejected our offer. All we could do now was to brace for a possible outbreak of bandits and black knights. We followed the city guards instructions and was led to a small bunker. Cronk suddenly tugged my shirt and showed me a small crack in the White Knight's castle. Curiousity again led me to go into the crack and see what is inside.

11:46
A sudden explosion rocked the whole city. Since we were already in the castle, we did'nt know what was happening. After a few rooms checked, we saw the king himself coming towards us. Me and cronk hid among the many drapes and after a few seconds, the king was gone. We followed the king to his safe room and saw 3 white knights guarding him. We just stayed at our hiding spots.

11:57
We heard rocks collapsing in the safe room, so we rushed towards the safe room. Peeking beside the wall, we saw the 3 fallen bodies of the white knights, the king being held hostage by a bandit leader at the edge of his sword. Cronk and I crept up to the bandit leader and easily dispatched him. The king felt grateful and thanked us. At the corner of my eyes, I saw 2 more bandits coming after us. We told the king to follow us for we shall keep him safe. We escaped the safe room and went through the hallways.

12:02
After losing the bandits, we went to the tower to take a look at the aftermath of the war. I was in shock and awe when I saw ruins of a once thriving city. Dead bodies lied everywhere, shops demolished, the clock tower obliterated. But the white Knights had won this war, for we saw a small number of them searching for more enemies at the park. A sudden noise got our attention and we ran to see what was the commotion. The 2 bandits chasing us were dead, instead , 2 white knights were standing, cheering at their victory.

A few months later...

We were presented an honorable gift, and was thanked by the king for saving him. I saw the happy smile on cronks face when we got a shiny gold medal. We were called heroes now.

THE END
