The railroad

There was once a traveller. She travelled around the world, only carrying a water bottle, her trusty gun, the clothes covering her body and her motorbike. She lived a simple life of a wandered, going from city to city, enjoying life at its fullest. One day, as she was following a train track in search of another city, she came upon a man, resting on a small cart, who seems to be holding a piece of clothe in one hand and his provision in the other. Curious, the traveller came closer to the man, in his old ragged clothing, and asked a simple question. "What are you doing here?". The man answered that when he married a woman 10 years ago, they did not have enough money to live. So the man sacrificed his freedom and worked as a train track cleaner, day after day polishing the metal of the train track. The traveller asked again wether he has seen his wife, and the man answered that he has not made contact with his wife in those 10 years he spend working here.

After leaving the man, the traveller rode on a few more miles, until she reached upon another man, who seems to be trying to pull the metal bar of the railing off. Again, the traveller stopped to ask the man what is he doing. "Im just pulling these metal bars off of the track." he answered while finally unscrewing the last of the metal bar he was pulling off. The traveller asked the man how he got here, and the man explained that 10 years ago, he was sold off as a slave to a rail road owner. Everyday he was forced to work by taking off the metal bars off the train track. This was the only way he would have enough neccesities to live. So he kept on working, and after those 10 years, he is still here, working.

After leaving the second man, the traveller went off and encountered another man, who seems to be hammering a bar of metal into the train track to fit in. The traveller, confused, approached the man, and the man said "Dont mind me, im just trying to make a living here". The traveller enquired about how he got here, and the man answered that 10 years ago, there was a job vacancy here. The job was to put back all the metal bars that were taken off so that the train track can be used in the future. So, being desparate, he applied for the job, and everyday he works, and everyday he gets paid in the form of food, water, and other bare neccesities, and he lived the same life for 10 years.

The traveller then rode off, until she found a city. Curious as to wether the train station will ever be open, she asked a government worker there wether the train tracks will be opened, and the government worker answered in confusion, "Train tracks? We dont even have a train station, nor did we ever had one 10 years ago. I think you must be confused with some other city.
